Marcela Alva‘s passion for dance
began as a young girl. Born and raised
in Peru, at the age of four she was
enrolled in Ballet School where she
studied classical Ballet for nine years.
She also studied and trained in Latin
Rhythms and Peruvian Folk Dances.
Marcela continued her passion for
dance in college. While pursuing a
Business Degree, she enrolled in Latin
and Folk dance classes as part of her
elective course curriculum. She
developed a diverse variety of in Dance
rhythms and skills, including: Salsa,
Merengue and Cha-Cha.
She moved to Boston, MA in 2001
where she started teaching private
Latin Dance classes. Marcela always
has believed that combining dancing as
a form of exercise with proper nutrition
results in a balanced and healthy
lifestyle; therefore, in 2004 she decided
to study Holistic Health and became a
Reiki Practitioner. She then moved to
San Diego, CA in 2006 where she
started her Reiki Practice.
In 2008, Marcela become Certified as
Zumba Instructor at the IDEA National
Convention in Los Angeles, CA.
Knowing that the “Zumba movement” was helping thousands of people to get fit and healthy
through dancing, she started her own career as a Zumba
instructor. She currently teaches Zumba
at The Hammond Studio of Dance, The Gym in Del Mar and L.A Fitness. She also continues to teach
Latin Dance throughout San Diego.
Marcela is a gifted and skillful dancer; It is her true passion and commitment to Dance and Health
which has led her to help hundreds of people attain healthy lifestyles through dancing.

Graciela Korch’ desire and passion to
dance began as a little girl. Born and raised in
Peru, her whole world as a young girl became
dancing, gymnastic, track and field, sports and
fitness.
She studied ballet for many years, also studied and
practiced Peruvian Folk Dance in the National
University of Trujillo, Peru, where she was born.
Graciela traveled annually abroad Brazil, USA, or
Germany to keep up with the latest certifications and
trends in fitness. For many years she instructed salsa
aerobics, among several other fitness programs.
At the age of 23, she and a partner opened their own
gym, offering many different classes. The Latin
dance group exercise classes were the most popular.
The business grew fast and was a success.
A few years later she moved to USA and got married.
Now as a mother, living in San Diego, California she
continues working as a fitness instructor, and is
certified in The L.A Idea World Convention as a
Zumba Instructor since 2009.
In 2009, she also enrolled in the fitness specialist
program at Mesa College completing the course with
very high grades.
A final note of interest, Gracielas most recent athletic accomplishment was a first place finish in the women’s 29-39 category and fifth place overall in the 2009 La Jolla Half Marathon.
